A Day of Reflection on Creation and the Creative Process

    Saturday, Sept. 18
    10 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.

    Includes Lunch
    Suggested Offering: $25 (Scholarships available.)

The verdant 30-acre campus of the Renewal Center will be our prayerbook for a day of reflection on the power of God’s creation. As Elizabeth Barrett Browning wrote:

    “Earth’s crammed with heaven,
And every common bush afire with God,
But only they who see take off their shoes.”

The first half of the day, we will prayerfully explore the Renewal Center grounds strolling the footpaths, sitting on the deck, or peering through a window, listening to birdsongs and wind in branches, with eyes, ears and hearts open to experience a theophany — God gracing us with divine presence visible in nature.

The second half of the day, we will fully embrace this sacred encounter by expressing what is stirring in our hearts through art. The expression can be manifold: drawing, painting, dancing, poetry, journaling, music, photography — whatever way the Spirit moves you.

To allow our brush with the Holy to penetrate our souls, we will end the day by sharing our creations with one another.

    Special notes:

    • Wear shoes and clothes suitable for walking along our trails.
    • We will have activities for those with mobility challenges. The Renewal Center is accessible for people with physical disabilities.
    • Paper, crayons, markers, colored pencils, and journals will be available.
    • Bring any other equipment you may prefer such as paint and canvases, special paper, cameras, musical instruments, ballet slippers or tap shoes.
