Lent Study Days: The Inseparable Bond

This Lent, we will explore what it means to live an authentic Christian love that embraces the poor, the sick, and the forgotten.

Guided by Pope Leo’s apostolic exhortation, “Dilexi Te,” (I Have Loved You) we will study Old and New Testament passages, the teachings and practices of saints over the centuries, and Church tradition about God’s call to pay special attention to the hurting and poor among us.

Pope Leo issued “Dilexi Te” to help people appreciate the close connection between Christ’s love for those who are discriminated against and oppressed, and his radical summons to care for the wounded and weakest among us.

Pope Leo asks: Scripture and tradition is so clear about our relationship to the poor; why do so many of us continue to think that they can safely disregard the poor?

Each Monday we will read and reflect on one chapter of the exhortation with the goal of finding practical applications for your own life, for your parish and for our nation today.
