Lent Video Four — Guided Meditation: ‘Traveling in the Dust of the Rabbi’
Today Fr. Ron Will is going to lead you in a guided meditation. He will start by reading a passage from the Gospel of Mark (Mark 1:29-34). Here’s the text to help you prepare.
On leaving the synagogue he entered the house of Simon and Andrew with James and John. Simon’s mother-in-law lay sick with a fever. They immediately told him about her. He approached, grasped her hand, and helped her up. Then the fever left her and she waited on them.
When it was evening, after sunset, they brought to him all who were ill or possessed by demons. The whole town was gathered at the door. He cured many who were sick with various diseases, and he drove out many demons, not permitting them to speak because they knew him.
When you start the video, Fr. Ron will read the Gospel for you and then lead your through a guided meditation, taking you deeper into that story. He calls this experience “an example of traveling in the dust of the rabbi.”
To prepare yourself to see this scene in your mind’s eye, Fr. Ron suggests you close your eyes, take a couple deep breaths, relax, let go of other thoughts and concerns.
